Jasmin Chavez Cruz is a bold and visionary coalition builder, external affairs leader, and advocacy strategist whose leadership is rooted in community, shaped by purpose, and driven by a deep commitment to justice and representation.
Born in El Salvador and raised in Falls Church, Virginia, Jasmin began organizing in her community as a middle school student. That early passion for service has grown into a lifelong mission to bridge the gap between government and the communities it serves, ensuring that public institutions reflect and respond to the people they are meant to represent.
Most recently, Jasmin served as the Northern Virginia Political Director and Director of Latino and Business Coalitions for the Spanberger for Governor campaign, a high-profile statewide race. In this senior leadership role, she led large-scale coalition and outreach efforts across the Commonwealth, ensuring Latino voices, priorities, and leaders were central to campaign strategy and mobilization. As the only Latina serving in a senior political advisory capacity on the campaign, Jasmin provided critical guidance on authentically engaging one of Virginia’s fastest-growing voting blocs.
Following the election, Jasmin continued her service as a member of Governor-Elect Spanberger’s Transition Team, supporting the incoming administration through the Personnel and Policy Offices. In this role, she helped coordinate and staff key leadership positions across the administration, developed candidate briefing materials, and supported cross-agency policy planning—contributing to the formation of an administration grounded in both excellence and equity.
Previously, Jasmin served as an Associate Director for the White House Internship Program, where she led outreach and recruitment efforts and built a diverse, high-impact pipeline of future public servants. She also spent two years at the U.S. Department of Education, supporting national Latino and faith-based engagement, planning high-level events with senior administration officials, and crafting strategic messaging and digital outreach.
Earlier in her career, Jasmin served for three years as the Virginia State Director for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and played a pivotal role in the Biden–Harris 2020 campaign as Chair for Latino Youth Outreach in Virginia.
Known for her authenticity, heart, and results-driven leadership, Jasmin continues to champion inclusive leadership and expand opportunities for the next generation of public servants. Her work has been recognized nationally, including the LULAC National Woman of the Year Award (2018) and Hispanic Executive’s 30 Under 30 Award (2023). In July 2025, she received the Rising Star Award from the Latino Leaders Network.
Jasmin is currently exploring her next professional chapter and is excited to pursue opportunities that allow her to continue building coalitions, shaping policy, and advancing equity in public service.
